Hi, I’m Patrick, an illustrator and hand letterer living in London, England with my wife and three kids. I’m originally from the cornfields of Indiana, USA.
I have over 20 years of experience working as a designer and freelance illustrator. During that time I worked with different types of organizations such as clothing brands, greeting cards, wholesale home products and publishers. In 2020 I received a message through Instagram that has led me to transitioning to children’s book illustration where my heart has always been.
I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons, 80s TV and movies, reading comics, and playing with action figures which has influenced my love for creating stories. The stories I love to create are filled with imagination and adventure with characters that are a bit on the fringe of normal. The characters have a range of emotions and feel a sense of discovery and purpose within themselves and their environment. I’m interested in creating stories that the reader can see themselves in as they relate to the challenge of the character. I also have a passion for stories that reveal how all of us are unique and have a purpose in this world, we just need to discover it. My hope is these stories and characters will impact the reader to do the same in their life.
I have participated in courses such as ‘Make Art That Sells: Illustrating Children’s Books’ and ‘The Good Ship Illustration: Picture Book and Business course.’
