Hi, I’m Patrick, an illustrator/author living in London, England with my wife and three kids. I’m originally from the cornfields of Indiana, USA.
I have over 20 years of experience working as a designer and freelance illustrator. During that time I worked with different types of organizations such as clothing brands, greeting cards, wholesale home products and publishers. In 2020 I received a message through Instagram that has led me to transitioning to children’s book illustration where my heart has always been.
I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons, 80s TV and movies, reading comics, and playing with action figures which has influenced my love for creating stories and my illustrations. The stories I love to create are filled with tons of heart, imagination, adventure, a hint of mystery and some goofiness with characters that are a bit on the fringe of normal. These characters also have a range of emotions and feel a sense of discovery and purpose within themselves and their environment. I love a good hero's journey or a great underdog story that taps into the heart of childhood.
In a world that is filled with instant everything, I love creating stories that help us be present and get swept away on an adventure that leads us to take on are own adventure.
I have participated in courses such as ‘Make Art That Sells: Illustrating Children’s Books’ and ‘The Good Ship Illustration: Picture Book and Business course.’
